In addition to the amazing medicinal gifts of plants, they have incredible spiritual qualities and transmit a wisdom essential to our health and the well-being of our species. Since the dawn of culture, people have looked to plants with reverence and appreciation for what they teach. While most of us do not have living traditions of plant communication, there are universal approaches that can bring us back into loving relations with the green world. Once we open our hearts to the generous givers of food, shelter, air, medicine, beauty, love... and realize that we are provided for entirely, we unearth a vulnerability that can only be comforted by gratitude. We invite you to explore some paths of inter-species connection. Signe hopes this will inspire folks to create their own traditions of plant-honoring ritual, and to build relationships with the green kingdom to which we are indebted.
Signe is a plant lover. She fueled her fascination of their cross-cultural uses, ogled at their physiological adaptions as an undergraduate and preserved their flavors as a farmer later in life. Then the dandelions bloomed all at once, and the mullein guarded the swale. Since then, she has been in wonder of sacred plant medicine and Western herbalism, studying with the Gaia School of Healing, Shamanaflora, Herb Pharm and the California School of Herbal Studies. She manages the pharmacy and wholesale accounts, and many other joyful tasks at Five Flavors Herbs.
