We’re very excited to offer a field study of the Southern California desert and Coastal Range early this Spring, as we only offer these classes every two or three years and they are very fun and inspiring!
We strategically aim to offer this class during the peak desert bloom so that a feast for the eyes can complement the practical applications of the medicines we will be studying. This class aims to be intellectually engaging for practitioners of all backgrounds and practically suitable for herbal enthusiasts of any level of experience.
The aims of this two day course will include the following:
- Identification of over twenty useful medicinal plants
Ethical wild harvesting
Traditional and modern applications of desert plants
Application of native plants within the context of Chinese medicine and Chinese formulas
Infectious disease, respiratory health, dermatology
Topical and first aid applications
Culinary uses of common plants
Schedule: Begins Saturday March 18 at 9 a.m. near Anza Borrego and concludes Sunday March 19 until 3:00 p.m. The class will be approximately 2 hrs from San Diego and 2.5 hrs from the Los Angeles area. Participants are encouraged to come and camp with us on the evening of Friday March 17. Other details TBA.
