Pharmacy/ Retail Manager

32-40 hours weekly

Starting wage $22-25 commensurate with experience

 We are seeking a well organized and motivated individual to join our management team and serve as the Retail/Pharmacy Manager. This position will work closely with our Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Retail Buyer, and Practitioner Liaison, as well as with our pharmacy technicians, to ensure that customers and practitioners receive excellent service with the highest quality herbal products.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead Pharmacy Technician including filling custom compounds in tincture, raw herb, and granule forms according to our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and and lead in training new staff in doing so correctly. This includes using our computer software to complete customer orders as well as a master knowledge of how to order tinctures from the Five Flavors Herbs manufacturing facility.

  • Collaborate with the Practitioner Liaison to serve as the primary contact for practitioners and manage the relationships between Five Flavors Herbs and our practitioner- clients. This includes problem solving and using smart and creative communication methods during daily operations. The Retail/Pharmacy Manager will be trained on how to document incidents that need investigation and follow up and when higher level involvement is necessary.

  • Engage practitioners in trainings on how to use our pharmacy portal, increasing its utilization and thus increasing our sales

  • Supervising and managing all Retail/Pharmacy technicians and the Retail Buyer ; including training and onboarding new staff, upholding Pharmacy Tech expectations, scheduling, provide staff evaluations, lead hiring of new staff, serve as the first point of contact for all Pharmacy/ Retail staff issues.

  • Collaborate with our Practitioner Liaison to facilitate staff trainings and hold extra 1:1 support meetings to ensure all pharmacy staff are proficient in our online ordering system.

  • Enforce and document standard operating procedures for filling formulas.

  • Work with the Operations Manager to oversee the pharmacy online ordering software and its ongoing development.

  • Oversee the inventory of our tincture stock- replenish in advance, receive batch lots into inventory and comprehensively track the sales and waste

  • Master knowledge of our Five Flavors Herbs herbal proprietary line and the other retail product lines we carry in order to facilitate sales and excellent customer service.

  • Collaborate with the Retail Buyer and Operations Manager to organize seasonal sales & promotions in the retail store, including creating a yearly calendar of such promotions, a plan for marketing (ie online and print), creating in-store displays, shelf-talkers, and other strategies for boosting retail sales and growing our business.

  • Work with the Retail Buyer and Practitioner Liaison to ensure the daily operations of the pharmacy are being executed with high level production outcomes. This includes setting expectations for time management and distributing tasks based on skills.

  • Support in-house classes and events by creating flyers, helping with event listings, and coordinating staff to support opening and closing the shop for classes. These events  typically occur on evenings and weekends.

  


Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • 2-5 years experience in customer service

  • A minimum of 2 years management experience

  • Basic knowledge of TCM, Western Herbalism and natural health including familiarity with botanical terms, Latin nomenclature, and pin yin, as well as vitamins, supplements, and overall trends in the natural health marketplace.

  • Strong computer skills and proficient in Google applications and Microsoft applications

  • Basic mathematics including unit conversions and algebra

  • Operating POS system, over the phone and online ordering, and shipping orders.

  • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs in boxes, chairs and other furniture

  • Standing required for up to 8 hours a day

  • Steady hands and ability to pour from 1lb bottles

  • Comfortable in a fast paced retail environment



Preferred Skills

  • Clinical herbal experience.

  • Herbal pharmacy experience

  • Sales and outreach experience

  • Social media, SEO, web and graphic design experience are a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • College-level coursework in chemistry, general biology, botany, anatomy & physiology

  • Spanish and/or Chinese language skills a plus
